ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly has approved a resolution of confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan. A total of 178 members of the PTI and its allies have expressed confidence in Imran Khan. When Azmi took office, 176 members of the National Assembly had voted in favor of him, giving him two more votes than before.
Opposition seats in the National Assembly was vacant due to the boycott of the PDM, on which government members placed necklaces of notes while government members also brought with them placards of honor. Federal Ministers Pervez Khattak and Murad Saeed Opposition Member Mohsin He kept persuading Dawar to vote but he did not agree.
On Saturday, the National Assembly convened under the chairmanship of Speaker Asad Qaiser. At the beginning of the meeting, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi presented the resolution that expresses confidence in the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan in accordance with the requirements of Article 91 (7) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The Speaker moved the resolution moved by Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the House. All the members rang the resolution desk and welcomed it warmly. Meanwhile, only one member from the opposition, Mohsin Dawar was present in the House.
Members of the National Assembly went to the lobby one after another to register their votes. Prime Minister Imran Khan also went to the lobby with all the members and registered his vote. Upon completion of the voting process, the Speaker announced the number of votes cast in favor of the resolution.
He informed the House that a no-confidence motion has been passed in favor of the Prime Minister. The Speaker said that earlier in August 2018, Imran Khan was elected Prime Minister with 176 votes but now he got 178 votes two and a half years later.
