ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
When testing
begins to take control of your life, try these high-tech tools to reduce your
workload.
Purposeful
assessment is key to children's learning and development. Knowing their
achievements and getting an important response allows you to plan their next
steps. But let's not do it ourselves, it can be a daunting task - many teachers
can bite the bullet to find quick and easy ways to do so. In the new era, the
best news is that current technology can help. No, we're not talking about the robotic response to bland, standard statements have many programs and
applications that can be used for constructive and concise tests, and here are
just a few:
PROOF OF READING
This is a big part of testing, so try using the tablet's built-in video camera to record
activities such as drama or speech and listening. Playing back video allows for
closer testing and analysis. Often things I do, correct mistakes as they are
perceived, or add ideas or suggestions. Reviewing work and tracking progress
has never been so easy. Also, the work can be easily shared on Google Docs,
which gives students a wider audience and the opportunity to learn and correct
what their peers have accomplished. One of my classmates said that he liked to
use it because it meant that he and his friends could work together to succeed
in writing.
CREATING TESTS AND QUESTIONS
Putting the
tests together and marking them by hand is a daunting, time-consuming task.
Typeform is a website/application suitable for this type of work. You can do
questions, quizzes, and tests and send them to your students. You can also try
the same Socrative and Formative ones, so look at one of these three to decide
what works best for you. Another good thing about Sococrative, for example, is
that you can search for prepared tests online. So when you read Romans, Google
just: 'Sococrative Romans'. Finally, if you want to turn a test into a
competitive game, check out Quizalize. This allows you to ask questions and
show the whole class how everyone is progressing.
CLASS DISCUSSIONS
A big part of testing is tracking progress through quick, quick feedback and interviews. So, get a class chat during a lesson via Twitter, and you can see who’s working and what they’re learning. To follow a conversation, simply create a class hashtag, e.g. # class6J. You may even find that students who are not comfortable talking in front of the whole class will join in a lot when they are online. Another great website for hosting class discussions, especially if you want to keep your classroom conversations private, is TodaysMeet. It allows you to set up a classroom chat room where students can ask questions and support each other.
CATEGORY MANAGEMENT
Classes need
to be well managed in order to be able to successfully test. Google Classroom
is a great tool for tracking students and sharing work ideas together.
