LAHORE HIGH COURT ALSO GRANTED BAIL IN THE LAST REFERENCE OF FORMER DG LDA AHAD CHEEMA
LAHORE: The
Lahore High Court (LHC) has granted bail to former DG LDA Ahad Khan Cheema in a
disproportionate assets case. Thus, Ahad Cheema has been granted bail in the
last reference, Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Asjad Javed Gharal
said. A two-judge bench ordered the release of Ahad Khan Cheema in exchange for
two sureties of Rs 10 lakh each. Earlier, during the hearing, the court
rejected the NAB prosecutor's request for time to file a detailed reply, Majid
Pervez Advocate pointed out before the court. Ahad Cheema has been lodged in
Camp Jail for three years. He was kept in NAB custody for 90 days. NAB
officials are seeking respite today to file a reply. Statements of 48 out of 210
witnesses in the case have been recorded. The trial is delayed. Inquired whether
show-cause notices were issued to non-appearing witnesses and anonymous
witnesses. On this, the NAB prosecutor said that time should be given for
the report of the trial court and a detailed reply.
