The Lahore High Court has told the lawyer of the Election Commission in a dialogue that the Election Commission should tell, when will the elections be held? Leave the governor and give the election date.
In the Lahore High
Court, Justice Jawad Hassan heard the request of Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Asad
Umar to give the date of the election in Punjab, during which this conversation
took place.
Justice Jawad
Hassan said that it is written in the constitution that the elections are to be
held in 90 days, before that the economic situation was bad but the elections
were held.
The Election
Commission's lawyer replied that we are ready to conduct the election, there
has been progressed in this regard yesterday, and the Governor has written in the
letter that the Election Commission should consult with all the stakeholders.
The court told the
lawyer of the Election Commission that leave the Governor and give the date of
the election, you are doing so much work, you yourself give the date of the
election, there are several decisions of the Supreme Court in this regard.
The lawyer of the
federal government said that there is still enough time to complete the 90
days.
Justice Jawad Hasan
said that you should give the date when the election will be held, we are
talking about what is written in the constitution.
The lawyer of the
federal government said that no one is saying that elections will not be held.
Petitioner Asad
Umar said that the Election Commission has released the schedule for the
by-elections of the National Assembly, the by-elections are to be held in the
entire country, the economic situation was not taken into account while issuing
the schedule of the by-elections.
Justice Jawad
Hassan said, Asad Umar Sahib! Today, be happy with the Election
Commission, today the Election Commission is supporting your position.
PTI leader Asad
Umar said that Election Commission should give a chance to be happy.
The court inquired
whether to make a full bench in this case?
PTI requested not
to form the full bench.
The lawyer of
Governor Punjab also appeared in the court and asked for time to reply.
The court asked the
governor's lawyer how much time do you need?
The governor's lawyer replied that I want 7 days.
Asad Umar objected to this and
said that if 7 more days will be given for the reply, then enough time would
have passed, giving 7 days means that 22 days would have passed since the assembly dissolution.
The court told Asad Umar that
if you have come to the court, don't worry, nothing happens for four or five
days.
