DOG INSURANCE-INFO4U-2021
Dog
insurance” for their dogs. They claim to have a 24-hour program that reports
back to their experts. They have lists of 5,000 “experts.” While some of these
claims are disputed, the founders believe that with enough “patient capital”,
they can fix whatever is wrong with a dog. Often, they say that it is an
allergy and that the dog can be treated with a prescribed diet, including diet
food for the dog and nutritional supplements. These claims, and the high
prices, and short attention span of the owners who are the $10 medicine.
One company
was taken to court by the Texas attorney general because they claimed; they
sold health insurance for humans. It seems to me that it is far more insidious
to sell something for your dog than for yourself. You are not going to be able
to hock your house, and they know it.
Just sharing
my thoughts “it can not be happened here” not enough. The main industries that
have been providing fraudulent health care include prescription drugs,
homeopathic medicine, and oral surgery. The only difference is that in health
care there is a lack of regulatory oversight.
Texas
attorney general’s office did not stop there. They filed charges against the
founder of that particular company, claiming that they attempted to
claim false and unallowable expenses, including over $140,000 for advertising
and $50,000 in payments for consulting. Of course, these claims were allegedly
made by the CEO,, who resigned his position after a previous arrest. In an
email to the Austin-American Statesman, the company said: “We are confident we
have not violated the law.”
Of course,
there are many other examples of companies that provide fake services. There
are also frauds in other industries, like mortgage lending or unqualified
teachers in the classroom. There are also a plethora of scammers who go online
to “rescue” pets. But the pain and suffering of dogs and cats that are
exploited for profit by unscrupulous individuals and unscrupulous companies are
unions and business owners all over the world. But this is not the problem of
the US.
While you
can read more about all these frauds here, you can also check out this
documentary: “Dog Shit Insurance” to watch the full story.
The
authorities are not interested in people who treat animals and kids and decide
to gamble on a sick dog. If someone can work the system, they do. If someone
can tell their personal story that is powerful enough, then they get insurance.
After all, they are an “entrepreneur.”
Maybe it’s time that we take a lesson from the rest of the world and recognize that it is
not just the insurance companies and the lawyers who make up this country; it
is a country that tolerates fraud.
Maybe we
should protect our animals and our children the way we protect our dogs.
Just saying.
