LAHORE: OPERATION TO RESCUE 12 ABDUCTED POLICE AND RANGERS PERSONNEL
LAHORE: Angry activists of banned Tehreek-e-Libek attacked a police station in the Chowk Orphanage area of Nawankot in Lahore and abducted six policemen including DSP and tortured the abducted policemen.
Activists of the banned party hurled petrol bombs at Nawankot police station hurled stones and sticks at security personnel clashed in retaliation, and security forces fired shells, baton charges and aerial firing.
Two people were killed and 30 others, including policemen, were injured. According to the viral statement of the abducted DSP, three people were killed. After the recent incidents, the traffic coming from Morsmanabad, Babu Sabo, Scheme turn to the orphanage was stopped.
According to police sources, at around 9:10 am, banned TLP activists attacked Nawankot police station from where they kidnapped DSP Nawankot Umar Farooq Baloch and five other personnel and took them to their headquarters, where they tortured them. According to the DSP's video the message, they were conducting an operation in front of the Nawa Kot police station when an angry mob overpowered them, where Qari Farooq stopped the protesters with violence and rescued them. He said that three people have been martyred who have been shot and about ten or fifteen people have been injured.
Traffic coming from Samanabad, Babu Sabo, Scheme turn towards Orphanage is completely closed. A heavy contingent of police is stationed at the reserve near the Samanabad turn, while the two roads leading to the orphanage have been blocked by protesters with stones.
