LAHORE: OPERATION TO RESCUE 12 ABDUCTED POLICE AND RANGERS PERSONNEL

LAHORE: Angry activists of banned Tehreek-e-Libek attacked a police station in the Chowk Orphanage area of ​​Nawankot in Lahore and abducted six policemen including DSP and tortured the abducted policemen.

Activists of the banned party hurled petrol bombs at Nawankot police station hurled stones and sticks at security personnel clashed in retaliation, and security forces fired shells, baton charges and aerial firing.

According to police sources, at around 9:10 am, banned TLP activists attacked Nawankot police station from where they kidnapped DSP Nawankot Umar Farooq Baloch and five other personnel and took them to their headquarters, where they tortured them. Later, heavy contingents of police and Rangers launched an operation against the demonstrators, police tear gas and firing in which the alleged T LP 2 members killed and wounded more than 15 when workers opened and sticks at police More than 15 policemen were also injured. 

According to police sources, the assailants also tortured the police personnel and rained batons on them. They also pelted stones at the police station in response to which police and Rangers fired tear gas and started firing in the air. Police firing and tear gas continued for about two hours.

Punjab police released a statement on a social networking site stating that some elements attacked the Nagarkot police station where Police and Rangers personnel remained trapped inside.

According to the statement, police and Rangers pushed back the miscreants and took back control of the police station. Punjab police said they did not plan or carry out any operation against the mosque or madrassa.

He said that if any action was taken, it was for self-defense and protection of public property. Meanwhile, police officials confirmed that the operation was underway at Orphanage Chowk in Lahore but did not give further details. A video message of P Omar Farooq Baloch also came to light which shows that he is injured and is in the possession of the banned TLP. 

According to the DSP's video the message, they were conducting an operation in front of the Nawa Kot police station when an angry mob overpowered them, where Qari Farooq stopped the protesters with violence and rescued them. He said that three people have been martyred who have been shot and about ten or fifteen people have been injured.
