Addressing a function at the Convention Center on the occasion of World Environment Day on Saturday, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that it was a great honor for Pakistan to host the World Environment Day celebrations. The Prime Minister said that we decided to plant one billion trees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and then we came to know that 640 million trees have been planted so far in the entire history of Pakistan. We have achieved this target in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that it was painful for us that the forests in Changa Manga, Depalpur, Tandlianwala and Chichawatni in Pakistan was also cut down. No one cared about our future generations. Contaminated with pain, in the past, people drank water from the canal outside Zaman Park.

The Prime Minister said that we have decided to shift 60% of electricity to renewable energy by 2030, 20% of vehicles will run on electricity, for which our youth have built scooters and rickshaws which will reduce pollution.

He said that Punjab government has transferred the brick kilns in Lahore to ZigZag technology in one year, congratulating them on this, now planting trees in this country, cleaning the rivers and cleaning the country. The whole nation needs to move forward and fight for the United Nations Decade for the Restoration of the Ecosystem.

On the other hand, Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated the government and people of Pakistan on the the successful hosting of World Environment Day 2021 and vowed to work together for the development of the environment sector said the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan. He read out a message from President Xi Jinping in which he said that the international community must play a responsible role.

He lauded the clean and green movement in Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and pledged to work with Pakistan for the development of the environment sector.
