PUNJAB AND KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA ELECTIONS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY BECOME NOTICE CASES: JUSTICE JAMAL MANDUKHEL
In
the Supreme Court of Pakistan, during the hearing of the case of an automatic
notice on elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Justice Jamal Mandukhel
expressed reservations and said that it does not become a case of automatic
notice.
Justice Athar Minullah said that the dissolution of
the provincial assemblies should also be automatically noticed.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial
yesterday took notice of the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and
constituted a 9-member bench.
During the hearing today, the Chief Justice of
Pakistan remarked that it will be seen who has the authority to give the election date. They want the elections to be in accordance with the
constitution, the president has announced the elections under section 57, and the
election commission has also complained about not getting funds including
security, they want the elections to be in accordance with the constitution,
violation of the constitution will not be tolerated. Will do that, will not extend
the hearing due to lack of time, prepare, the hearing will be held from next
Monday.
